The Expert Panel

Expert panels are used to assist you in the editing process. In addition, you can create your own tools and panels, as well as link to other panels and even work with the panels of other users.

When you click a tab, a panel opens up containing a selection of tools that belong to a single function. For example, the Tool Options panel contains tools for opening, editing, and saving files. The Edit panel offers tools for painting and tweaking the image. The Character panel contains commands for text and font editing.

Creating your own panels makes it easier to set up complex layouts or images with many tools. For instance, you can create a Quick Panel that contains the Brush, Eraser, and other tools used to manipulate objects, and a Character Panel that contains the tools you use most often when editing text. From there, you can link these to other panels.

See Chapter 21 for instructions on creating and linking panels. Figure 7-1 gives a screenshot of an open panel with some additional panels linked.

When you create a panel, you save it using the `.psd` file format. You can store it in the Photoshop folder on your computer and open and edit it anytime. If you link the panel to other panels, you can click the Open In Other Panel icon to open it in any linked panel.

Paintbrush tools are used to paint over part of an image to achieve a specific effect. Some tools are good for drawing smooth and detailed shapes (such as rounded rectangles and rounded ovals), and some others are good for small detailed shapes (such as cross-hatch, feathers, and tiles).

To give an example, it is important to note that the brush of your drawing tool is controlled by two buttons: (1) the draw tool, which draws the shape, and (2) the eraser tool, which can be used to remove (i.e., change the color of) the shape. The following figure shows the position of these two buttons on a tool.

Painting with brushes can be used to give the illusion of a 3D object, or to make a hand-drawn effect. All tools can be found in different categories, such as shapes, textures, and filters.

Watercolor tools apply watercolors to paint on images. Some tools are good for creating soft, flowing watercolors, and others are good for producing very hard edges.

To give an example, it is important to note that the brush of your watercolor tool is controlled by two buttons: (1) the draw tool, which draws the shape, and (2) the eraser tool, which can be used to remove (i.e., change the color of) the shape. The following figure shows the position of these two buttons on a tool.

You can also apply filters or paint effects to your image, such as gradients, overlays, etc.

Adding effects

There are several tools available in Photoshop Elements that allow you to create effects, such as the watercolor blending tool and the sketching tool.

There are two main ways to create these effects: creating a new layer, or using a tool palette (see below).

Creating a new layer

To create a new layer, choose the Object > Layer > New, and click OK.

You can also create a new layer if you have a blank layer by pressing the CTRL + J (or ⌘ + J) keys, or the ALT + CTRL + N keys.

Using the tool palette

You can add effects without creating a new layer. Simply click on the Tool Palette to open it, and click on the effect you want to use.

Commentary on Cases Unexplained April 2016

As part of the unsolved series for the current month, we present some of the cases featured in this past month’s edition of the Bulletin of the British Society of Clinical and Forensic Psychologists. If you wish to learn more about this year’s series and its features, please see the reading list and contact us!

A 22-year-old man who has been able to get a job through his family’s company was questioned after being found with marijuana and having a rock in his pocket. He provided a statement admitting to taking marijuana on the day in question, but he said he only did it because he had been smoking cannabis several times a day for the last few months to help his friend deal with his eating problems. He was not charged with a crime.

A 28-year-old man was arrested for theft after he was caught stealing medical cannabis from a pharmacy that he had been asked to pick up by a friend. Police then searched his home, where they found, among other items, a number of pills and a pillbox that he said were prescribed for him in a number of countries and which were not on the doctor’s prescription he had been given. He admitted that he had been in possession of the pills and the pillbox, but said they were his own personal medication which he had been given in his home country. He was charged with possession of Class B drugs.

A 31-year-old man was arrested after being caught in a cannabis plantation that he had bought from a local farmer using the false name of “Edward Smith.” He was arrested and charged with cultivating cannabis, possessing cannabis for sale and possessing cannabis on school property.

A 25-year-old man was arrested after he was found smoking cannabis at a railway station. When confronted by police, he acknowledged that he had been a smoker for some time. He did not have a police caution or any other legal paperwork of any kind. He was offered a drop-in session by a probation officer, but he was very reluctant to sign up, saying that he would just go back to using cannabis, as he did not see any other option.

A 49-year-old man was arrested at his workplace after he was found to be under the influence of cannabis when he failed a roadside breath test. He was arrested and charged with “driving in the presence of a controlled substance,” which means that he

Looking for a solution to this problem, graphics problem

I am trying to replicate this:

However, the problem that I run into is that I don’t understand how to place the ghost’s arm at a funny angle. I’ve been looking at tutorials, but that didn’t help.
PS. I’m not looking for code specifically, just a general idea on how to solve this problem.

There are many ways of doing that kind of stuff. I show you a method for creating the kind of the ghost.

Let’s say that ghost is created with radial gradient using the following code (based on Paint):

You can set the to whatever angle you want (e.g. -45 degrees or 45 degrees). In this example I set it to -45 degrees.
Now when you draw the ghost, you can animate it using an animation:
